Faruk ÇELİK, who was appointed as the Minister of Labor and Social Security in the 61th government after working as a State Minister, took over the ministry from Prof. Dr. Ömer DİNÇER on July 8, 2011.

BACKGROUND

Faruk ÇELİK was born in Yusufeli town of Artvin Province in 1956. He had his primary education in Artvin and his secondary education in Bursa. He graduated from Bursa Higher Islam Institute. He studied Business Administration at Kocaeli Institute of Business Administration, Yıldız Technical University.

Faruk ÇELİK, who worked as a high school teacher for four years, was engaged in different forms of trade.

He was an owner of a local newspaper and also worked as a columnist for two years.

He began his political life in youth branches of parties. He worked as the Provincial Chairman of Bursa and also served as the Vice President of the Virtue Party.

He was elected as a 21st term Member of Parliament from Bursa on April 18, 1999. He was a member of the Interior Affairs and the Petition Committees.

Faruk ÇELİK, who was one of the founders of the Justice and Development Party in 2001, was elected for the second time as a 22nd term Member of Parliament from Bursa. He worked as a deputy chairman of the Justice and Development Party for 5 years.

Having been elected for the 3rd term as a 23rd term Member of Parliament from Bursa on July 23, 2007, he worked as the Minister of Labor and Social Security and State Minister at the 60th Government.

Faruk ÇELİK, who was elected as a 24th term Member of Parliament from Şanlıurfa on June 12, 2011 and was appointed for the second time as the Minister of Labour and Social Security at the 61st Government, is married and has four children.
